Area Element

The area element is used for measuring areas in the project. Areas of earthworks disturbance are recorded in the earthworks estimation summary so there is no need to measure these. Area elements only measure 2D areas, as if they were measured from a paper plan. They don't measure the 3D surface area that can be found in the earthworks estimation report.

The properties that are exposed for the area element are summarised below.

	Boundary Boundary button provides access to the editor wherein the definition points can be defined for the points which define the area. Colours Here you can set the Main and Text colour of the area element. This can be useful for visually separating different area measurements or making them easier to see against the colours of the topography. Fill Style The fill style allows you to fill in the area with different styles of hatching. This can also be used to visually separate different area measurements in your project. You can set the fill style to none if you only want to see the boundary lines of the measurement.
